Anyway

Someone sent this to me in an email. Inspiration....

The following is found on the wall of Shishu Bhavan, a children's home run by Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India.

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.

LOVE THEM ANYWAY

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.

DO GOOD ANYWAY
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.

SUCCEED ANYWAY
The good you do will be forgotten tomorrow.

DO GOOD ANYWAY

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
BE HONEST AND FRANK ANYWAY
What you spent years building may be destroyed.
BUILD ANYWAY

People really need help but may attack you if you help them.
HELP PEOPLE ANYWAY
Give the world the best you've got and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
GIVE THE WORLD YOUR BEST ANYWAY

These words make my (spiritual) heart feel warm. But, emotionally and intellectually, they strike me as unrealistic, to say the least. The audacity to encourage people to do the opposite of what our own nature nearly compels us to do is appalling.

I feel a great deal of bitterness towards anyone responsible for perceived injustices toward me or others in the world. I doubt that I'll transcend those knee-jerk reactionary responses in this life.

Still, words like this are inspiring to read, from time to time. Thank you for sharing.

I agree with you Torrid Wind, there is a fine line between doing what is right and being a doormat. I'm certainly not above the anger of being wronged, but it is something to aspire to.
